Aura balms use a synthetic mica, which means the “sparkles” are made in a laboratory from natural minerals instead of being harmfully mined from the earth. Traceability, transparency, and safety is imperative when manufacturing cosmetics. Hurraw can trace their ingredients to the gram because they make it themselves (no contract manufacturing).
Hurraw stubbornly refuse to use mined micas in our Aura balms due to contamination, heavy metals, and hushed child labor practices.
Importantly, synthetic mica is third party tested to be free of antimony, arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, chromium, cobalt, and nickel. It is also safety tested for human use, i.e. the particles of shimmer are much too large to penetrate the skin and have been thoroughly tested for safe cosmetic use.
What’s more? These balms are plastic free – Aura’s glass jar and tin lid are 100% recyclable.
Tiny Air Bubbles: Rare but sometimes appear on the surface due to our pouring process. These do not affect the product quality or performance in any way.
